Aharon headlight seam separator plier
Reverse action pliers are one of the most used tools by retrofitters for separating the front lens and the headlight housing.
- Controllable force
- Less chance of damage (to the headlight and yourself)
Controllable force
Because of the reverse plier action, spring loading and large surface area, you can use a lot of force, but it's easy to control. And because of the large surface area, you have a lot of control and feeling, which results in less chance of damaging the edge of the housing/lens.
The correct tool for the job
Yes, it is possible to open a headlight with a flat head screwdriver, but this tool makes it is easier, faster, and less chance of damaging the edge of the housing because the surface area to which the force is applied is much bigger. And there is less chance you accidentally stab yourself with the screwdriver because you are applying a lot of force and the screwdriver loses grip and gets stuck in your hand.
But like always with retrofitting, be careful.
